PORTFOLIO: PERSONAL STYLING PROJECT

ELOQUENT BEAUTY

My client is a mid-twenties female Civil Engineer. She enjoys classic fitted looks in neutrals with a pop of color done tastefully. I created seven cohesive looks that can take her from work to working out, from casual outings to a night on the town.  I selected separates to maximize her budget and wardrobe options.

CONCEPT

PSYCHOGRAPHICS

PERSONALITY: Very kind, sweet, funny, and smart girl. Very loyal and considerate of other people. She has a very classy and elegant aura.

VALUES: Open minded, but still values tradition from her culture. She generally takes the “good” from her Middle Eastern culture and western culture and follows. There is no “black” and “white” vision; she always sees the shades of “grey” as well. Values respect greatly as well.

ACTIVITIES: Spending time with family and friends, karaoke, bowling, watching shows/movies on Netflix/Hulu, and going out with friends for dinner/enjoyable evening every once in awhile.

INTERESTS: Hair, makeup, fashion, bowling, and R&B music.

LIFESTYLE: Newly graduated with a Civil Engineering degree and has a job, she lives with her family. At the moment she is focused on her career and is busy studying for her certification exam. It is a new chapter in her life, so at the moment she is not going out as freely as she potentially can.

INTERVIEW

What type of ‘look’ do you wish to achieve? Classic? Trend?

I would like some classy outfits to wear for work because I spend 5 days out of my week there. I want cute but comfortable outfits to study in. I want to start-up my workout routine in the near future, so I need new attire for that. Also, casual looks I can wear on the weekend when enjoying fun activities with my family/friends. But also, outfits that are dressed up for those special occasions when dining out.

What colors don’t work for you?

Orange isn’t my favorite color to wear, but I’m open to wearing all colors as long as it looks good on me. I don’t like colors that are too loud, but for example wearing a little lime green color brings out my skin color (look more tan). Highlight colors typically work for my skin, but I really don’t like dressing too loud.

What areas on your body do you like to accentuate?

My waist is thin, and I have a pear-shaped body so my thighs are much larger. So I try to stay away from tops that are loose to make sure my waist is defined. Also, my bottom is also large and also another favorite feature on my body, along with my wide hips, so I would also like to showcase them.

What areas on your body do you not like to accentuate?

My knees are wide and my legs are large, so I feel self-conscience about them. In general, I don’t like to show any skin on my bottom half of my body, but I am open to change.

What is missing in your wardrobe?

An everyday coat I can wear to work that’s classy enough to fit my professional look I want to achieve, but at the same time keep me warm and dry from the weather. Also, I don’t own any button-up blouses. Honestly, I’m just missing a lot of staples I should own for everyday casual, but classy looks because I’m transitioning from a student to a professional working woman.

Do you have a ‘go-to’ look?

I used to always just wear a plain top and leggings because it accentuates my body the way I want, but also is comfortable to deal with my hectic schedule. It is simple, and I didn’t have to think much about it even though I love fashion and there are better “go-to” outfits to express the type of person I am.

What are the three favorite things in your wardrobe?

My Chanel accessories (necklace and earrings) because Chanel is my favorite brand and when I get the opportunity to dress up I think these accessories have the simplicity yet the elegance I like to express through my look. My Lucky Brand, suede, heeled booties because they are comfortable. I have wide feet, but give me the girly look I like to achieve. Heels also help lengthen my legs, making them appear thinner, so I like wear any of my heels.

THE LOOKBOOK

BEFORE

In her ‘before’ photo, the client enjoyed implementing basics into her wardrobe, but did not add any accessories. She commented that she always forgot to add accessories to her look before she seldom invested in any.
