Color gives you a vibrant world. Without color, our experiences in life would have a different impact. A beautiful sunset, or a scenic view: these things and more all give us a captivating experience with the use of color.
For most of my life, I always wore what I liked and wanted. Fashion is an amazing form of self expression, and I realized that from a young age. However, there came a point of time in my life where I decided wearing color was not for me. I believe it had to do with the media influence of minimalism to look chic, and that too much color was “loud.” I became too self conscious to wear color, and I clung to the colors black, white, grey, navy blue, and gold accessories to be my new uniform. This played out for a couple of years in a portion of my 20s until I “woke up.” I realized, that a life without color was not the life for me.
Deep greens, vibrant reds, alluring purples…It is like being a kid in a candy store to be surrounded by color. How could I have withheld myself from this simple but heavenly indulgence? Color can change your mood and can set the mood while telling a story. So I am glad to say I love color (but of course, still love minimalism looks as well).
Summer is especially a great time to experiment with different colors. I had a lot of fun wearing this outfit pictured above while shopping in the South Park mall in North Carolina. Since the hue of the green wasn’t too dark, the contrast of the green skirt with the red bag was a fun pop of color and not Christmas-y. Pictures were taken with my iPhone since I did not bring my camera on my trip!
Have some fun in the sun this summer and don’t forget to light up your world with color!
