I ventured out Thursday night to downtown Portland to attend the opening of the fashioNXT fashion show. The show was a delight of course. There is something so enchanting about watching a fashion collection strut down the runway in person. Seeing it makes me hopeful and inspired for my career as a fashion designer in the days to come.
One of the things about fashion events that I love most (or any event really) is it is the chance to showcase your eye for fashion, your style. Your fashion style allows you to express yourself, to show who you are without saying anything.
Before looking at my wardrobe, I had decided I wanted to wear something classic but with a twist. The “twist” being a pop of color. What I really like about this green Zara blazer is that it is a fun color and that it is textured. In the past I would shy away from textured garments but now I am considering a fashion staple. It really is fun to experiment with texture and color when assembling looks. The one thing I am not a fan of is that the blazer has shoulder pads (which I hate). But I was willing to overlook it since I loved the blazer so much.
I really love a school girl look outfit, it’s such a great look for entering the fall season. I definitely plan to revisit this look using different blazers. It’s such a classy and fun look, it is perfect for a lot of occasions. And despite wearing accessories (bracelets), you can’t really see them with this look. Which is fine because the color of the blazer and the golden buttons make up for it to give the outfit a complete and harmonized look.
