FASHIONXT WEEK (Oct 5-7th) 2023 10th ANNIVERSARY EVENT

When fall begins, Portland, Oregon’s captivating fashion runway show happens. It’s become a staple of mine to attend at least one of the FashioNXT runway fashion shows every year. Last year I chose to go the opening night to see the showcase of the FashioNXT Emerging Designers Accelerator competition. This year however I opted to go to both Friday’s and Saturday’s runway show. I said to myself, why not go two nights back to back? When it comes to fashion, the runway is always the best way to spice up your life!

Friday 6th’s show entailed a lot of familiar faces in the Portland Fashion circuit and outside of the US. The highlight of the show was the runway show of Project Runway All-Stars Los Angeles winner, Seth Aaron.

Saturday 7th’s show showcased designers outside of Portland, and again outside of the US. Among all the designers, the night featured Project Runway All-Stars New York City winner, Mondo Guerra.

There is something different about sitting in person at a fashion runway show. You feel the energy of the garments and the vigor of the designers themselves. It only makes me even more ecstatic and motivated for my fashion design brand that I am currently working on.

Friday night’s outfit I wore, I put together last minute. The white poplin top I wore was from a Mango order that was delivered to me earlier that same day. My other white poplin top that I would have worn had a make up stain that I hadn’t washed off yet. I was definitely saved by my fall fashion shopping lol The one thing I can say about white poplin tops is that they are perfect dressy tops for evening wear and for casual wear. So if you haven’t yet, invest in a white poplin top! My Dolce & Gabbana high waisted midi skirt was a splurge purchase during the Nordstrom winter sale from earlier this year in January. Who could say no to 60% off D&G clothing? I wasn’t in the mood to wear high heels this night either so I opted to complete the look with my low heel boots. I think it added a chic touch to the look while keeping me comfortable. The necklace I purchased from Nordstrom for $30 about 7-8 years ago. I however did recently see the exact same necklace at Nordstrom for a similar price point in one of their stores during this past summer. I didn’t find it online to be able to link it for you all, so I apologize!

Saturday night’s outfit was a SPRWMN sequined tube top in silver, definitely an ode to my recent obsession with the color silver. I have a new appreciation for embellished tops for evening wear. I paired it with a Nicholas high waisted midi skirt with slit that I got on sale 50% off from The Outnet. I completed the look with my green Manolo Blahnik Hangisi jeweled heels and silver accessories. This outfit I did indeed plan in advance to wear! Sometimes you need to plan, and sometimes you just need to go with the flow.

While buying high quality clothing can sometimes break the bank, it is an investment. That’s why it’s always a bonus to buy things on sale. I definitely can imagine how to wear each of these pieces separately for evening wear, or a dressy day in the office doing work.
